On Heralds this week is……

Tara Fela-Durotoye
Fashion is one of the most intriguing topics in today’s world and excellence even in the line of fashion is a much desired height by so many in that world. On this edition of Heralds we shall be celebrating and learning from someone who to a great extent is doing well in that world;Tara Fela-Durotoye. She is a Nigerian Lawyer whose excellence has being brought to prominence through her make up artistry. Tara was born on the 6th of March 1977 to a polygamous family in Lagos State Nigeria. Her father Mr John sagay actually divorced her Mum in the eight month of Tara’s birth hence Tara was brought up by her step mother Mrs Modupe Sagay. That would have being enough trauma generator for some individuals but that wasn’t The case with Tara. She “journeyed” through the landder of education progressively from primary school to secondary school and to Lagos State university where she acquired her LLB. Unlike her other “learned colleagues” as the law personnels call themselves Tara decided to do something more personal and innovative than practising Law.

She chose to enhance what she started during her undergraduate days “House of Tara International” a business which started small and grew to become an internationally recognized organization and the creator of the first makeup school ever in Nigeria. House of Tara has not only won so many awards and recognitions as an organisation but has also provided a platform through which Tara as an Entrepreneur has won so many awards too. Amongst the numerous awards are the The Africa SMME Award, the Entrepreneur of the Year award 2007 and the Creative Business Award of the Year, Success Digest 2008.In 2013, she was listed as one of 20 Young Power Women in Africa by Forbes with the World Economic Forum also naming her as a Young Global Leader. Tara is the creator of the Tara Orekelewa Beauty range, Inspired Perfume and the H.I.P Beauty range.

Tara is married to the popular business strategist Mr Fela Durotoye and they are blessed with three children(all boys).

Moral Lessons

I believe you may have somehow heard of Tara and her exploits but I’ll like you to learn the following lessons from her life amongst so many others.

1. First dare to be the first if you are sure its worth it. For Tara it was a makeup school, what’s yours?

2. Secondly, aside from your certificate, learn a skill or trade and don’t hesitate to practice it when necessary.

3. Finally enhance yourself, package your skill well and you will soon be a star

On herald this week is …
Archbishop Benson Andrew Idahosa

The name Benson Idahosa is one of the most popular names in the history of Pentecostalism in Nigeria as a matter of fact he is the first pentecostal archbishop of Nigeria. Papa as he was respectfully called wasn’t born with a silver spoon and wasn’t even born a Christian. He was born on the 11th of September 1938 to a Non Christian family in Benin-city, Edo state Nigeria. Being a sickly child he was rejected by his own father and was even at a time abandoned at a rubbish heap by his own mother thinking he was soon to die.Although later rescued by his mother, the young Idahosa didn’t have the opportunity of being educated until the age of fourteen. Papa Idahosa was gloriously lead to christ by pastor Okpo whose congregation Idahosa grew from to start his own ministry “The Church of God Mission International” and the headquarters is currently in Benin-city in Edo state Nigeria. He started his church in a store but by the year 1971 he had established his churches all over Nigeria and Ghana. Through his life, so many were lead to Christ and even non christians were beneficiaries of his blessings. He was once said to have blessed the famous Dangote during the early days of his business but that’s an entirely different inspiring story of its own.It was recorded that God used him to raise people from the dead and he was popularly known for his power and prosperity preaching. He was the founding President of the Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria (PFN). Papa had so many contacts in and outside Nigeria especially with great men of God like T.L Osborn, Billy Graham, Benny Hinn, Kenneth Hagin, Reinhard Bonkee but to mention a few. Among his protégés are Bishop David Oyedepo, Pastor Chris Oyakhilome, Pastor Ayo Oritsejafor among so many other great contemporary Nigerian ministers.

Baba as he was also called, established other platforms through which people are still being blessed today, like the Benson Idahosa University, The Faith Mediplex and All nations for Christ Bible institute. Baba ended his journey on earth at the age of 59 on the 12th of march 1998.

The ministry is currently precised over by his beloved wife Archbishop Margrate Idahosa and they are doing fine. As at the time of his death he had four children amongst which is Bishop F.E.B Idahosa. Papa forever remains a blessing.

According to T. L. Osborn, Archbishop Benson Andrew Idahosa is the greatest African ambassador of the apostolic Christian faith to the world.

Moral Lessons

1. Every child is a blessing in disguise so value them like you value the Gold ore

2.Its not in man to direct his ways so stop despising the days of little beginning start somewhere even if it’s a shop like Papa did.

3.Don’t just pray for long life, pray for a life of lasting impart and legacy.
