On Heralds today is …
The wright Brothers
I wouldn’t like to bore us with much of history and dates this week because I am just so exited with these people that could believe in what 99% of the world would have called impossible and i really want you to read the moral lessons in this particular post carefully. Wilbur and Orville Wright Popularly known as the wright brothers are american inventors who were born in 1867 and 1871 respectively to the family of Bishop Milton Wright. While growing up the boys developed interest in mechanical activities and general science research. In 1889 they started their own newspaper, “The Westside News paper” that was doing quite well. By 1892 they later started their own bycicle shop where they fixed and sold their own personal bicycle designs. Being ardent followers of the aviation research of Otto Lilienthal a German Aviator who died in a glider crash the wright brothers resolved to make what so many would have called an impossibility a reality. They traveled to Kitty Hawk in North Carolina and started researching, working and experimenting their works on aviation. By 1903, December 17th precisely they succeeded in flying the first powered, sustained and controlled airplane flight in the world for 59 seconds at 852 feet. Just as Jesus said the prophet has no honour in his own home, the brothers discovery was not well appreciated by the Americans so they traveled to France(actually Wilbur went first before Orville joined later in 1909). In France there, they improved and started marketing their aircrafts even selling to the united States where they later returned to.Wilbur died in 1912 on may 30th while his younger brother and partner Orville died in 1948, August 19. What a life right?
I personally see this two as legends who have refined the world’s mentality on possibility and I will like us to learn the following from their life.
1. It doesn’t have to be generally accepted to become a reality. So many people have given up their God given great visions just because of either personal doubts or sentiments from people, the wright brothers were discouraged by so many including their own father but they believed their vision and worked from fantasy to reality
2. As important as a certificate may be its not the ultimate criterion for greatness. Non of the wright brothers graduated from college, but history can not forget the part they played in the world of aviation. Stop giving excuses and give the world what God has put in you for the world.
3. Finally i will like you to know that you can be better than you are today, break your own records by doing those things you did good in much better ways. Don’t sit down, keep growing.
